Job Description

 

We are hiring a Production Coordinator in our St. Thomas, ON location!

 

The Planning Coordinator - Bathing is responsible for supporting the bathing production plan by coordinating with the Vacuum forming lead hand, glassing lead hand, mould shop, and Production Supervisors. The objective is to ensure the  schedule is adhered to, maximizing efficiency and production volume.

 

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Communicate the schedule received from planning regarding the products to be manufactured for the day

  • Develop a fixture schedule for each conveyor (glassing) line and forming schedule for each machine based on labour, mould and machine status on a particular day and change the schedule adjusting for absenteeism or machine breakdown; review with Production Supervisors ongoing

  • Coordinate between planning and shipping on priority orders and provide support as required for customer service requests

  • Schedule routine mould and fixture repairs with mould shop

  • Arrange to bring glassing fixtures and change out glassing carts as required

  • Provide regular feedback to the planning as required and change the production schedule if machines breakdown.

  • Prioritize rush orders and track them through production to ensure they are packed as required for shipping

  • Follow special orders and modified jobs to ensure they are identified and  completed as required

  • Track the number of mould changes and minimize it by adjusting the WIP

  • Track number of empty hooks and minimize it by changing the schedule

  • Ensure smooth product flow / rotation through the various work cells and shifts

  • Other duties as required

 

Health & Safety:

  • Maintain a safe workplace

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required on the shop floor

  • Comply with the company policies, procedures, and O.H.S.A. (Occupational Health & Safety Act)

  • Participation is required in our internal responsibility system (right to know, right to refuse, right to participate)

  • Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as required

  • Report unsafe conditions or hazards as soon as possible to your supervisor

  • Maintain a clean working environment

  • Adhere to and maintain WHMIS 2015 requirements

  • Annual medical surveillance may be required

 

Quality:

  • Follow all area work instructions and procedures to ensure quality standards are adhered to

  • Report any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept, Lead Hand and your supervisor

  • Follow the control of nonconforming product procedure for any defective products found in your area

 

5S:

  • Adhere to 5S standards within the areas that you work in

  • Place material and products in the appropriate locations only

  • If applicable, take 5 min at the end of the shift to bring your work area back to the outlined 5S standard

  • Correct any deviations from these 5S standards immediately

 

Qualification:

  • Ability to complete complex problem solving related to vacuum forming processes

  • Ability to pull, push, bend and lift

  • Ability to read/write English

  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours

 

Educational Requirements:

  • O.S.S.D or equivalent

  • Successful completion of all tests related to the position
