Automation Engineering Technician

Bosco and Roxy’s is a premium, specialty dog treat manufacturer based in London, Ontario and shipping worldwide. Our products are new and innovative and fast becoming a must have in every treat jar. Bosco and Roxy’s frequently launches new hand-decorated cookie treats and the response has been fantastic! We launch a new collection for every holiday.

The Automation Engineering Technician will be a part of the Engineering team and be involved in projects and daily contributions to any applicable improvements within the bakery. This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering and Facilities.

Job Responsibilities - Automation Engineering Technician

Projects

  • Lead automation efforts including planning and implementing robotic solutions from concept to commissioning
  • Simulate production lines and future robotic solutions
  • Source and spec new equipment for increasing/improving production
  • Design new tooling and fixturing
  • Suggest, design and implement improvements to machinery to increase efficiency and reliability
  • Find ways to reduce waste and prolong life of all consumables

Day to Day

  • Assist Engineering Department in projects of various size and scope
  • Prepare models and fabrication drawings for parts needed to support production
  • Operate 3D printers to produce prototypes
  • Lead small-medium sized projects with autonomy
  • Support facilities team as required
  • Program various robots and become subject matter expert
  • Aid in addressing health and safety issues
  • Audit production lines for areas of continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Experience with robot programming including vision and conveyor tracking
  • Proven working knowledge with ABB RobotStudio simulations and Rapid programming preferred
  • Knowledge in PLC design and programming
  • Experience using AutoCAD (2D drafting)
  • Experience with Solidworks modeling
  • Experience with 3D printing preferred
  • Skilled in Microsoft suite of programs
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and self manage
  • Technologist Degree specializing in Robotics

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

  • Robotic Programming: 1 year (required)
  • Manufacturing: 1 year (preferred)
