Role Summary

The Leader coordinates the daily production activities of the team with respect to job assignment and job rotation to ensure quality standards and production schedules are achieved.  Maintains a clean and safe working environment.  Monitors timekeeping and attendance and performs some administrative duties. This is a 6- month contract with the possibility of extension based on performance and company needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitors and adheres to production schedule and adapts to any changes.
2. Ensures that all safety devices are checked at the start of each shift and that results are recorded.
3. Ensures appropriate first-off procedures for all processes are followed.
4. Ensures that all production paperwork is accurate (i.e. process parameters, production sheets, OA boards, etc.).
5. Continually monitors production for quality, breakdowns or problems and maintains production analysis boards.
6. Fills out NCR’s correctly and in a timely manner and ensures that parts are tagged accordingly.
7. Ability to operate production equipment
8. Supports other Area Leaders and Lead Hands in compliance with the Presstran Health and Safety/Ergonomic/Environmental program/procedures by:

• participating in performing regular workplace inspections to assist with hazard identification,
• ensuring corrective actions are in place to address hazards;  
• leading investigation for all incidents, near misses, property damage etc.
• providing employee training with TWI risk assessments, pre-use inspections, lock-out etc.

10. Liaison between Production Team and Department Leadership.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

1. Equivalent to completion of high school and/or related work experience.
2. Leadership courses and/or leadership experience an asset, including Presstran’s leader in training program
3. Ability to understand, anticipate, follow and provide direction while exercising maturity of judgement.
4. Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact.
5. Strong time management, leadership, communication, organizational and presentation skills
6. Must successfully complete required training provided by Presstran (i.e. the operation of cranes, lift trucks and tuggers, unless previously certified through Presstran)
7. Automated transfer press, coil line operation and blank de-stacking system experience.
8. Must be computer literate.
9. Apply Magna Charter and How We Work Together principles in day to day interactions.
10. Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job.
11. Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
12. Ability to work all three shifts, as required.
