As a Hardware Product Development Engineer, you will be part of a closely-knit Research and Development team within the organization that brings new products/ services to life. You will be responsible for working on ‘State of the art’ Locomotive technology by developing control strategies/algorithms for implementing the best industry approve design practices.

For this role, hybrid work available; role is located at our headquarters in London, ON.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop functional diagrams, PLC Programs, schematic and PCB layout for hardware applications
  • Perform necessary calculations and analysis for electronic circuit designs
  • Select, evaluate electronic components and work directly with component suppliers on engineering level
  • Conduct and support failure analysis at circuit and component level and prepare comprehensive reports
  • Provide post production support
  • Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of hardware system resources
  • Works with software design and various cross functional teams

 

Who Are You?

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering or relevant field
  • 3 - 5 years with control systems engineering preferred
  • Electrical schematic design, control algorithms
  • Experience with PLC programming (Siemens PLC preferred)
  • Familiarity in rail industry and systems integration preferred, although automation industry experience is a definite asset
  • Excellent knowledge of available off-the-shelf power systems, sensors, electromechanical devices, digital and analog electronics
  • Experience taking part in highly technical projects with proven success with respect to meeting schedule, budget and performance criteria
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work effectively independently and in cross functional team environments
  • Potential ability to travel up to 30%
