Summary of Job Function:

• Complete mechanical design tasks on assigned vehicle system(s)
  • Take ownership for design development while ensuring compliance to scope, budget, schedule, design requirements, and departmental procedures
  • Collaborate with colleagues and customers in the development optimized design solutions
  • Specific areas of design:
    • Automotive powertrain systems - suspension, axles, steering, brakes, drivelines
    • Vehicle dynamic effects
  • Participate in component and vehicle level test programs
  • Participate in the generation of Research and Development opportunities, as well as other operational planning activities

 Required Experience/Qualifications:

• University Degree, College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or experience equivalence gained through working in the field of Mechanical Design
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant automotive or mechanical design experience
• Excellent oral and written communication ability
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Proficient in the use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others)
• Possess/be able to acquire a valid passport, with the ability to travel both domestically and internationally
• Ability to acquire and maintain a Canadian Security Clearance

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

• Proficient in the use of 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) packages (Siemens NX - an asset)
• Possess or the ability to obtain a professional designation (P. Eng, CET, etc.)
• Experience with military organizations and/or military ground vehicles
