The EHS&S Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day Environmental, Health, Safety and Security functions at the site. The EHS&S Coordinator assists with implementing, and maintaining a variety of health, safety, environmental and security programs to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for employees.

 

Regular working hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

The Role

  • Assist with maintaining compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, rules, permits and licenses relevant to the site

  • Assist with maintaining compliance with Ontario Environmental Acts and regulations, rules, permits and with annual reporting completion and on time submission.

  • Assist with maintaining compliance with Ontario Fire Code – annual review of Fire Safety Plan and act as the Emergency Response Team Lead.

  • Ensure that hazards, unsafe conditions and safety concerns are corrected in a timely manner.

  • Facilitate training in compliance with EHS&S requirements.

  • Assist in conducting chemical assessments – identifying and installing the appropriate controls for new materials introduced at the site.

  • Lead / co-chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

  • Conduct workplace inspections (JHSC) and independent daily safety walks.

  • Perform other duties as required.

 

The Candidate

  • High School Diploma Required

  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate would be an asset

  • Knowledge of Joint Health and Safety Committee would be an asset

  • Knowledge of ISO 18001 and ISO 14001 would be an asset

  • Experience working in an unionized pharmaceutical, manufacturing and/or GMP facility preferred

  • 1+ years of experience working in an EHS capacity/office environment is preferred

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.

  • The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. Use of manual dexterity is required.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
