Job Description
Job Summary: We are seeking an Assistant Material Planner for a summer contract position to support our material planning operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer science, mathematical, and data entry skills. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our spare parts inventory, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform data entry tasks into Manager + system to update and maintain inventory records.
- Implement bar codes for spare parts inventory to streamline tracking and management processes.
- Assist in establishing an effective Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Program.
- Collaborate with the Production department to develop PM schedules and coordinate downtime for repairs.
- Provide support in optimizing production schedules to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Assist in order necessary supplies, services, or replacement parts for PM repairs and monitor inventory levels.
- Assist with analyzing downtime reports and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Support plant layouts and cell moves to optimize workflow and productivity.
- Contribute to the maintenance of work order and PM tracking systems linked to inventory control.
- Assist with cost-saving and cost reduction initiatives, and support budget control efforts.
- Maintain accurate computer records and hard copy documentation.
- Provide support for monthly progress reports to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your Manager/Supervisor.
Education & Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of production machines and tooling is an advantage.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity with Management Plus/Maintenance Plus, and AutoView are added assets.
- Excellent planning, communication, and organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
- Work within a manufacturing environment, both office and on the floor.
- Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations within a "just-in-time" environment.
- Collaboration with various trades on repairs and maintenance needs.
Safety and Housekeeping:
- Adherence to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the OHSA.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures regarding safety rules and regulations.
- Operate equipment according to safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, organized, and safe workplace in accordance with Environmental Program ISO 14001 elements.
