The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The Finance Analytics & Automation team is seeking a backend-oriented developer with experience in Snowflake and Power BI to support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data solutions for finance reporting & analytics. This role will focus on building and optimizing Snowflake views and data structures, supporting downstream Power BI semantic models, and partnering with finance and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable, efficient, and well-governed reporting solutions.

• Designing, developing, and maintaining Snowflake database objects, including views and related SQL-based transformations, to support finance analytics and reporting needs
• Developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting SQL queries and backend data logic that support business reporting and analytics
• Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders including Controllers, Treasury, Accounts Receivable, Business Finance, FP&A, Manufacturing, Data Intelligence, and IT, including teams across global locations
• Analyzing and integrating data across multiple systems and sources to improve data accuracy, quality, consistency, and visibility
• Supporting the development and maintenance of Power BI semantic models to enable scalable and high-performing reporting solutions
• Investigating and resolving complex data and reporting issues where root cause and resolution may not be immediately apparent
• Providing ongoing support for user-reported issues and tickets to ensure reporting and analytics solutions continue to operate effectively
• Monitoring data processes and reporting outputs, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes or workarounds to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
• Recommending and implementing improvements related to data design, reporting performance, standardization, and automation.
• Contributing to process optimization and continuous improvement efforts that enhance team productivity and resource efficiency.
• Applying development best practices including version control, documentation, testing, and collaboration within Agile ways of working.
• Staying current on industry trends and emerging technologies in cloud data platforms, analytics engineering, and BI modeling to identify innovative solutions.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Three (3) years of experience in IT, Data Analytics, Reporting & Analytics, Finance, Accounting, or FP&A in a private, public, government or military environment
• One (1) year of hands-on experience using SQL to write complex queries for analytics, reporting, and data-driven business insights

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Hands-on experience with the Snowflake data platform, including database architecture, roles/security concepts, and creation of views and other database objects.
• Experience building or supporting Power BI data models/semantic models for reporting and analytics.
• Experience with GitHub or similar version control tools
• Ability to work effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, data-driven technical solutions.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to understand finance processes, metrics, and reporting requirements.
• Experience supporting finance analytics, reporting, or automation use cases.
• Knowledge of Finance (RTR) datasets, source systems, and security models.
• Experience working with cross-functional global teams.
• Knowledge of Scrum methodology.
• OneStream experience.

Work location:

• On-site: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week from one of the following 3M Center locations; Maplewood, MN, Austin, TX, London, ON

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Applicable to US Applicants Only: The expected compensation range for this position is $95,591 - $116,834, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
