Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Health & Safety department on incident investigation, process analysis and process improvement activities.
- Conducted physical demand analysis (PDA) and risk assessments for processes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Support improvement of the TBCA stretching program. Transform the stretching program from Static to Dynamic.
- Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings. Assist in closing open concerns.
- Work together with multiple functional departments on Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) activities.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments to ensure safe work practices utilizing one or more of the following: Physical Demands Analysis forms, RULA, REBA, Video Analysis, NIOSH, SNOOKE tables, etc.
- Ensure assessments are completed as per targets set out by the department manager
- Coordinate aspects of the Return-to-Work program utilizing ergonomic tools available to ensure productive and suitable job bundles for employees; maintain a log for employees participating in the Return-to-Work program
- Liaison with the Human Resources department to improve plant training on the Return-to-Work program
- Educate Alfield supervision on effective Standard Work Instructions
- Currently enrolled in a co-op program in a related field: Health and Safety, Engineering, Kinesiology and/or Advanced Ergonomics
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent English Communication skills (oral and written)
- Knowledge of best practices
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- We seek driven, energetic and creative people currently enrolled in a postgraduate Occupational Health and Safety program or Environmental Science.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft applications (i.e., word, excel, and outlook)
- Demonstrated goal-oriented self-starter.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and organize multiple priorities.
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
