Product Engineering, E.I.T. (Engineer In Training)
Introduction
Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Maintenance, the Product Engineering, EIT (Engineer in Training) will be responsible for developing specification sheets for new products, verifying accuracy of the specifications, assisting with equipment qualifications and assisting with the procurement of equipment

Position Overview
Technical Steward for developing new cannabis formulations and cannabis products by researching innovative technologies, designing equipment, and contacting vendors to acquire equipment and parts.
•Conduct production process evaluation for determining the product specifications. This includes economic and technical feasibility studies for determining Return on Investment for aiding in decision making purposes.
•Conduct process feasibility studies for manufacturing new products (vapes, infused pre-roll, tinctures) and documenting results. From the results of the testing recommendations are provided to the production or manufacturing teams. Testing includes new hardware and/or formulations to see how products perform.
•Develop plans for manufacturing trials based on plans for upcoming new products or processes.
•Partner with multidisciplinary teams to plan and support process demonstration trials and provide support to the operations and product launch team.
•Support start-up activities for newly launched product manufacturing processes or equipment. Supervision of technicians new to the process.
•Document all the outcomes of the design of the experiment, validation trials, scale-up trials, and demonstration trials.
•Assist the QA (Quality Assurance) team in developing standard operating procedures for new process/equipment operations and providing training to operators. This also applies to changes in Operation Procedures as our business evolves.
•Represent the engineering group as the Subject Matter Expert for in house technologies
•Other duties/responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing)
- 1-3 years’ experience in an engineering capacity
- Experience within cannabis industry an asset
- Experience within GMP or GPP facilities an asset
- Working towards P.Eng. designation
- Strong verbal and written skills. Must be able to present ideas and solutions in a clear, concise manner.
- Strong time management with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at one time with several stakeholders in fast paced environment
- 1-2 yrs experience defining user requirements and translating information between technical and non-technical personnel
- CAD experience an asset (plant layout/floor planning, 2D)
- MS Office /Google suite

WORKING CONDITIONS (ON SITE):
This role is performed on site at our production facility in Aylmer, Ontario and Motif provides all required PPE and has continued manufacturing safety protocols: a well-fitted mask must be worn at all times while indoors and staff are to remain 2M+ apart unless otherwise communicated.
