Specialist/Engineer –Embedded Developer

Position Description:

• Designing and developing efficient embedded applications using C/C++
• Development on a variety of platforms including Window CE/Embedded and Linux
• Participation in peer reviews and design reviews
• Building applications for State Machines
• Development in a resource constrained environment

Position Requirements:

• University Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (or Diploma plus industry experience)
• Minimum 3-5 years of embedded software development (x86/64 and ARM)
• Expertise in C/C++
• Experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML) design and/or model driven development
• Experience with serial protocols for communication and logging
• Testing and debugging skills
• Knowledge of vehicle communication network protocols (SAE J1939, TCP/IP, UDP)
• Ability to participate in concept, UI, and feature development
• Aptitude in hardware selection.
• Strong communication, organization and prioritization skills
• Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space
• Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
• Must be able to work in Canada and to obtain CGP (Controlled Goods Program) clearance and be eligible for access to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) controlled data/hardware
• The incumbent must have or be able to obtain and maintain Secret Level clearance

• 5 or more years of embedded software development on a variety of platforms
• • Experience with developing secure embedded applications
• • Comfortable with C++ libraries such as Boost
• • Experience with Object Management Groups such as DDS
• • Skilled at developing for State Machines
• • Experience developing QP Framework
• • Utilization of mainstream development tools such as Eclipse
• • Proficiency with MATLAB for modeling and development
• • Adept with embedded real time operating systems
• • Experience with Agile/SCRUM software practices
• • Familiarity with Git, and Atlassian suite of tools
• • Experience working the full life cycle of a project from bidding and requirements definition, through design, build, qualification and support of fielded products
• • Experience with industry and military standards relevant to military vehicle design
• • P. Eng or eligibility for P. Eng status
