Summary
 
The Financial Analyst will directly report to the Finance Director and will support the team in service to operations. This role will own the income statement and will ensure commodity, income and excise tax filings are up to date. Superior cross-functional collaboration skills and a focus on continuous improvement are
required for success. This person will support and drive process mapping of financial functions to improve the reporting timelines and profitability.
 
Job Duties
 
Financial reporting
• Review and assess all supplier and customer contracts to determine appropriate treatment
• Implement appropriate procedures for P&L line items to ensure completeness, existence and accuracy of balances
• Own and drive a process to improve MD&A compilation and ensure inclusion of meaningful metrics
• Support and drive financial audit requests
• Ensure propriety of all income statement note disclosures
Commodity and Excise taxes
• Ensure compliance with commodity and excise tax filings
• Monitor regulatory reporting to ensure consistency with financial records
• Ensure appropriate reconciliations and working papers are in place
Routine accounting
• Maintain the General ledger and sub-ledgers and assist in the month-end closing process
• Prepare journal entries, invoices and purchase orders.
• Review and approve bank reconciliations
• Manage and reconcile the inter-company transactions
 
Requirements
 
• 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
• CPA designation, or in pursuit of CPA designation
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS and exposure to financial reporting is a must
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and proficiency in working with an ERP
• Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and develop structure
• Track record of meeting tight working deadlines, and prioritizing workload are essential
• Some travel may be required
