Emergency Response Technician - EHS
About the job
General Summary: Lead Security, Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Response activity to ensure the safety and security of all TBCA team members, facility, assets and products at both TBCA facilities. Large scale, multi-site business and workforce.
- Essential Job Functions:
- Lead audits of site security, evaluation of effectiveness and improvement plan.
- Responsible for creation and maintenance of Emergency Response Program including Spill Procedure, Fire & Life Safety, Evacuation, Severe Weather, etc.)
- Support testing and inspections of various equipment or building security functions.
- Lead Fire Safety activity to ensure fire prevention activities are in place to safeguard TBCA.
- Responsible for leading emergency drill activity, holding reflection meetings and creating improvement plans.
- Responsible for Contractor/Visitor management procedure, including creation and tracking of contractor work packages, training/orientation, auditing and evaluating contractor/visitor performance in regards to Health & Safety.
- Responsible for evaluation and improvement of medical emergency response.
- Responsible for creation & maintenance of various Emergency Preparedness initiatives including Emergency Operations Control and assessments.
- Responsible for New Model Launch activity as it pertains within scope of work and work closely with Engineering group to ensure contractor compliance during construction or large-scale projects.
- Study & Learn all aspects of business units to ensure best in-class security & emergency response system to keep all TBCA team members safe.
- Willing to learn, adapt and participate in cross-functional training within all department roles.
- Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in OHS, HR, Security, Engineering or combination of relevant education & experience.
- Greater than 2 years of relevant experience in OHS/Emergency Response/Security type role.
- Greater than 1 year of experience working in manufacturing/industrial setting
- Advanced knowledge of OHSA, CSA and other relevant regulations in Ontario.
- Experience working in both office and industrial setting.
- Understanding of the manufacturing processes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Ability to engage and collaborate with contractors or visitors to ensure compliance to rules.
- Ability to host training lectures and meetings with management team.
- Open to learning about the Toyota Production System and utilizing techniques to reduce waste in own process.
- Ability to problem solve and open to learning TBBP (Toyota Boshoku Business Practice).
- Ability to differentiate between value and non-value adding job functions.
- Excellent organization skills
- Understanding of the organizational structure and terminology.
- Must be knowledgeable of company products, procedures and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be creative and innovative.
- Strong analytical ability, judgement and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement projects.
- Must be a self-starter but also work well together in a team dynamic.
- Strong attention to detail is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Some knowledge of other languages such as Japanese, Arabic and Spanish would be considered an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, Etc.)
- Work Environment/Conditions:
Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing and others areas. TBCA Uniform required.
Travel: Must be willing and able to travel between Woodstock & Elmira facilities.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting and standing and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.

Salary: $31.81 - $38.43 per hour
