Trudell Medical Limited is the corporate entity within the Trudell Medical Group of Companies and operates out of our offices in London, Ontario Canada.

 

Director, Corporate Finance is a leadership role in our Corporate Finance team.

 

This is an office-based role with the option of a hybrid work arrangement.

 

Must be available to come into the London, Ontario office 3 days per week.

You have a university degree in Business Administration/Accounting or equivalent and you are a current Certified Public Accountant (CPA). You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant senior level experience including Public Accounting experience servicing clients operating internationally with multi operating units, multi currency and manufacturing. You have experience managing foreign currencies and exchange rates and knowledge of commercial group insurance, pension plan administration and corporate finance.

 

Reporting to the VP and CFO, you will provide leadership to TML's finance function and the financial performance management of the Trudell Medical Group of Companies (TMG). You will ensure that consolidated and statutory accounting for the TMG is reported accurately, timely, and in compliance with accounting standards. You will also guarantee that TMG’s treasury, fleet and commercial insurance programs are managed to mitigate risk and to manage costs.

 

Specifically, you will focus on:

 

Financial Reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly/quarterly/annual financial statement reporting of TML, Barvest Ventures and other corporately prepared entities; with distribution of monthly departmental reporting to TML senior leadership team for effective cost management
  • Ensure accurate TMG monthly reporting packages, quarterly consolidated financial statements and Board financial reporting packages are prepared and distributed along with the appropriate analysis in timely manner
  • Lead the TMG and Baran Holdings Group (BHG) annual audit and review of statutory financial statements and direct finance teams to ensure completion in a timely and effective manner
  • Provide upstream financial reporting support to BHG

 

Financial Performance Management

  • Identify, develop and implement continuous design, automation and process improvements of Board and Monthly reporting packages, enhancing reporting quality of standardized simple but insightful reports, increasing aesthetics, understandability, timeliness, numerical consistencies and narrative quality
  • Ensure the review of monthly operating company financial reporting packages, both summary level, and detailed level including commentary and are distributed to TML executive
  • Review and interpret historical and emerging trends, highlight key issues, and ensure advanced analytics are performed where appropriate, and provide communication at monthly and quarterly senior management reviews

 

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Lead the TMG annual business plan process, communicating assumptions, schedules and standardized submission and presentation requirements
  • Facilitate the detailed review and reconciliations of all TMG business plans
  • Ensuring annual consolidated budget and periodic consolidated forecasts are prepared accurately and timely
  • Lead the unconsolidated budget and forecast preparation for TML, providing direction to departmental heads to develop accurate budgets and forecasts

 

Treasury, Fleet, and Insurance

  • Ensure cash management, monitoring, reporting and analysis across all TMG and BHG companies
  • Ensure cash management controls, processes and policies are effective for balance sheet protection and risk management
  • Ensure foreign currency exposures and contract positions are monitored and managed effectively
  • Liaise with external banking partners, negotiating terms, facilities, short-term operating investments and ensuring compliance with all banking covenants and agreements
  • Manage relationships with external banking partners, fleet providers and insurance brokers
  • Ensure fleet and commercial insurance programs are effectively managed, risks mitigated and in compliance with all legislation and company policies/standards

 

Leadership & People Management

  • Set direction for the Finance function on how it contributes to overall business success an align resources accordingly
  • Ensure the performance of all direct reports is evaluated to maximize their performance, motivation and development throughout the year and during the annual performance review
  • Develop talents and capabilities that create a continuous improvement culture with high talent engagement and growth
  • Develop staff by following management practices and setting appropriate objectives
  • Provide ongoing leadership and direction to the TML Finance department, and ad hoc direction to Operating Company Finance teams as required; driving accountability

 

Functional Support

  • In conjunction with the VP & CFO, define appropriate finance policies and procedures, and establish an effective system of internal controls
  • Assist with strategic financial modelling, and other sophisticated analysis where applicable
  • Lead in conjunction with VP & CFO the finance digital transformation initiatives across TMG as required
  • Keep current with new technology, financial marketplace and financial standards
  • Assist the VP & CFO in other financial matters and special projects as required
