Associate Counsel


Key Job Elements:

  • Participate as a member of a collaborative legal team that provides timely, efficient and effective legal support on a wide range of issues
  • Draft and negotiate agreements and related documentation
  • Support litigation management with internal and external legal counsel
  • Support other legal and regulatory compliance professionals
  • Support all business departments including finance, human resources, contracts, supply chain management, and production and delivery
  • Support the company’s international business pursuits and operations
  • Engage professionally with other GDLS affiliates and corporate head office
  • Position is on-site in London, Ontario, with limited hybrid work flexibility

 

Required Qualifications:

  • JD or LL.B degree
  • Licensed member in good standing in at least one Canadian province (Ontario preferred)
  • Broad range of legal skills and strengths, including the ability to recognize and resolve legal issues and manage attendant risk
  • Excellent analytical, drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal matters into concise and understandable messages
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively across business functions and with people at all levels
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and successfully meet deadlines to achieve business objectives
  • Ability to travel internationally and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport

           

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of legal experience in-house or at a full-service law firm
  • Experience in government contracting, corporate/commercial law, labour/employment law or other area relevant to a multinational defence contractor

 

Physical Conditions and Hazards:

The conditions in which an individual or staff works, including but not limited to such things as amenities,  physical environment, stress and noise levels, degree of safety or danger, temperature, location.

1)         Nature of Supervision: Minimal (Self-directed work)  

2)         Work Interruptions and Distractions: Medium/significant,

3)         Physical Environment: Office (occasional, limited hybrid flexibility)

4)         Hazards: NA

 

Physical Demands Description:
