Operating Engineer

Inovata Foods Corp. is looking for a full-time Operating Engineer to partner with us as we bring families and friends together through offering wholesome and convenient meals. The role is located in our Tillsonburg, Ontario facility. Inovata Foods Corp. is a major producer of wholesome control brand frozen meals for many of North America's largest retailers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls.
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
  • Follow all company food safety programs including GMP's to produce the highest quality product for our customers
  • Operate High pressure steam boilers plant, Air compressors, water softeners, air dryers, pumps, and fans under direct supervision of Chief operating engineer.
  • Responsible for safe operation of the steam plant and perform Daily safety checks on boilers for proper operation.
  • Operate, maintain and responsible for safe Operation of Class A NH3 Refrigeration plant.
  • Operate and maintain Freon compressors for plant cooling.
  • Operate and maintain HVAC system, perform PM and filter changes on them.
  • Operate and maintain effluent system by maintaining pH of water and take actions accordingly.
  • Performs water analysis on boilers, Track and log all readings and report any unusual behavior of equipment. Complete daily log report, Temperature log reports.
  • Monitor and maintain water treatment system for boiler and NH3 Condensers.
  • Provide access and assistance to contractors on shift as required.
  • PM on Boilers, Air compressors, Water treatment equipment, NH3 Refrigeration equipment, Spiral freezers, steam piping, water piping, condensate return piping, Effluent system, and other related auxiliaries.
  • Perform minor plumbing on steam line, waterlines, replace valves, fittings, steam trapes, gauges, sensors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must have 3 to 5 years of operating engineer experience.
  • Must have TSSA Certification.
  • Must possess knowledge of health and safety and related practices. Must possess problem solving and leadership skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Position may require varying start times and extended working hours with occasional weekends to facilitate customer presentations and attendance and production trials and first runs.
