Human Resources Supervisor (HR Area Leader)

Position Summary

The Human Resources Area Leader is responsible to carry out a wide variety of duties for the Human Resources Department and is responsible for the consistent delivery of the department’s day to day support service operation.

Recommended Qualifications

? Must have completed or have partial completion (to be completed in a reasonable time frame) of Post- Secondary Certificate in Human Resources Management
? Minimum five years related work experience in Human Resources and Health and Safety

Duties and Responsibilities

? Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Formet rules and regulations.
? Provide instruction, guidance and leadership to his/her Team by assisting in solving day to day problems of Human Resources and Health and Safety Team.
? Responsible for ensuring successful planning, implementation and effective project management for those items specific to the HR department.
? Monitor progress of assigned tasks and ensure they are completed within assigned timelines and provide support and resources when necessary.
? Aids in monitoring/planning departmental budget.
? Assists in annual reviews of Magna’s Total Compensation survey and makes recommendations for results.
? Ensure compliance to all established procedures/standards pertaining to this role and resolve discrepancies/deficiencies where required or appropriate.
? Assist in the development of Continuous Improvement initiative and manage resulting projects to completion and implementation as assigned.
? Assist/provide appropriate support/direction to HR teams, or members in order to assist them with meeting performance goals, and personal development needs.
? Maintain a presence on the shop floor by establishing and maintaining relationships with Team Members.
? Listen, respond to or direct for response and follow up on Team Member queries and concerns.
? Ensure the accurate processing of weekly timesheets, monitoring weekly hours of work to ensure a balance of work load is maintained within the group.

? Responsible for the communication to the HR department of all Safety Talks and bulletins
? Enforce safety rules and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
? Carry out analysis regarding quality of work life, Team Member relations matters and provide sound, accurate and appropriate advice for consistency in policy application; foresight regarding consequences, focus on division values/visions and compliance with legislative / corporate guidelines.
? Maintain high shop floor visibility; daily presence and personal contact with Team Members.
? Assist in the development and maintenance of positive Labour Relations strategies.
? Responsible for Team to ensure investigations are initiated, carried out thoroughly, documented and followed up with appropriate communication/documentation.
? Assist in the development & presentation of training programs for Team Members & Leadership Teams to enhance their basic understanding of the Magna Charter, Team Member Handbook, and Guidelines etc.
? Responsible to oversee and ensure the effectiveness of all Environmental, Ergonomic and Security functions and provide support / direction where required or necessary
? Will support various committees i.e. Joint Health and Safety Committee, Employee Opinion Survey focus groups as requested.
? Establish and promote the maintenance of safe and healthful working conditions, and recommend ways to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents and health hazards and improve environmental conditions.
? Plans and co-ordinates activities related to company health and safety, including safety records, accident investigations, WSIB reporting and follow-up, WSIB claims management, emergency procedures, WHMIS etc.
? Perform other duties as designated.

? Office and Manufacturing Environments
? Able to work shift work.
? Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)

Safety and Housekeeping

? Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the O.H.S.A.

? Follow and ensure the company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant.
? Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to Formet’s safety rules and regulations.
? Active role in maintaining excellent housekeeping through leading by example.
? Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.
? As with Safety, Security is everyone’s responsibility and Formet requires its employees to contribute to this activity by immediately notifying your supervisor when you identify security issues that affect the integrity of our supply chain, in accordance with PIP (Partners in Protection) and C-TPAT (Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements.

Follow environmental protocol as prescribed by the Environmental Management System (EMS).
