Engineering Manager

Role Brief

We are seeking an inspirational and experienced Engineering Manager to join our team. As the Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development of our products, leading a team of skilled engineers, and contributing to the growth and success of our organization. You will be responsible for managing a range of engineering projects, from conceptualization to final product delivery, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and innovation.

Adescor is a North American based, industry-leading supplier of downstream equipment for the corrugated pipe and extruded pipe industry. We design, build, and support a comprehensive line of downstream equipment for extrusion and corrugated pipe production; pipe haul-offs, cut-offs, perforators, filter loaders, spin welders, inner liner trimmers, and coilers. We can design and integrate a complete downstream automation system for your extrusion line that is validated before delivery. Adescor is growing and transforming from an equipment manufacturer, to a solutions provider. We apply our product and automation knowledge to your problem, developing solutions that meet your specific needs. Our team has grown to include knowledge and experience in robotics and automation which we can leverage to develop best in class solutions that meet the needs of today’s changing manufacturing landscape.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of design engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Define project timelines, set priorities, and allocate resources efficiently to meet deadlines and deliverables.
• Ensure the team are aware of day-to-day targets and responsibilities.
• Work in collaboration with business development to execute on the product development roadmap
• Forecast staffing and resource needs in line with company growth.
• Provide guidance and support to the team in making informed technical decisions, staying up to date with industry best practices and emerging technology.
• Develop the engineering department's long-term strategy and goals, including developing performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Drive process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and productivity within the engineering team.
• Recommend, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and standards to improve all aspects of flow.
• Encourage and support innovative thinking and problem-solving within the engineering team.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback via 1-on-1’s and support the professional development of team members.

Experience/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in manufacturing, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
• In-depth knowledge of automation technologies, including PLCs, robotics, and control systems (an asset).
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
• Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience in scheduling and capacity planning within an engineering environment.
