Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor

 

As a member of our Manufacturing Engineering team, you will Supervise and improve all activities related to production line process, equipment and maintenance to ensure products are assembled in an efficient and safe manner.

 

Responsibilities Include:

People Management and Departmental Administration

  • Organize and directly supervise staff, administer leave, monitor and respond to staff headcount requirements.
  • Develop Objectives, evaluate performance, provide feedback, and support employee growth
  • Resolve employee relations issues, performance problems, and disciplinary issues

 

Employee Safety

  • Comply with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
  • Accountable for employees working safely, i.e. by maintaining personal competency in departmental processes, equipment operation, materials usage etc., understanding the associated hazards in the department, and protecting workers from those hazards through information, training, and enforcement of procedures, laws, etc.
  • Maintain that equipment and facilities in safe condition, i.e. by maintaining personal competency in what “safe condition” looks like, conducting regular inspections, and addressing hazards if they arise.
  • Responsible for all employees working in compliance with TMI’s Disability Management Procedure, i.e., by maintaining personal competency in the Procedure, informing employees of it, and enforcing it.

 

Manufacturing Engineering

  • Create and update all PFMEAs, work instructions, SOPs, and validation documents to document product risk mitigation, standardize work and verify equipment.
  • Keep plant layouts and product packaging drawings up to date
  • Execute and develop continuous improvement activities to reduce product costs and improve capital equipment utilization, i.e. Time and motion studies, scrap reduction, equipment uptime, work simplification.
  • Develop new automation equipment with established suppliers that are flexible and efficient.
  • Develop new NPI processes that effectively produce and scale up new products.
  • Develop material handling routes and effective warehouse racking and picking to optimize material flow to manufacturing floor.

 

Equipment Maintenance

  • Ensure effective and timely preventative maintenance for all manufacturing equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment to maintain optimal performance
  • Ensure that all machinery and processes selected are the most efficient and cost-effective combination

 

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
  • Correct any safety hazards and enhance industrial health and safety within manufacturing
  • Ensure that strategies are developed to reduce ergonomic risk.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Engineering Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or a related field of study
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario??
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing work experience with evidence of increased level of responsibility
  • Computer literate with:
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in AutoCAD
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in Solid Works
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in MS Excel
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in MS Word
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of assembly design and product manufacturing in an ISO 13485 and GMP environment
  • Skilled in problem solving, trouble-shooting and technical analysis in electronic and mechanical equipment, products, and devices
  • Industrial engineering applied knowledge of LEAN, 6-sigma, plan for every part
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good supervisory skills
  • Ability to work independently
