Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead complex accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to the financial health of our organization. As a Senior Accountant, you will leverage your expertise in various accounting disciplines to deliver accurate financial reporting, streamline processes, and support strategic decision-making. Your energetic approach and strong technical acumen will drive excellence in our financial operations and foster continuous improvement.
 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, payroll entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and upload financial data for month-end reporting, forecasts, and annual budget planning.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow to ensure accuracy and liquidity management.
  • Process and remit government filings, including HST, WSIB, and payroll-related obligations, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Support year-end financial statement preparation, including audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities and corporate tax preparation.
  • Review and monitor Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable aging to ensure timely collections and payments.
  • Collaborate with and provide cross-functional support to accounting, payroll, and administrative teams.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
 

Preferred Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or high-volume environment.
  • Strong ability to manage large data sets with accuracy in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP) and Outlook.
  • Hands-on experience with full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (IFRS experience considered an asset).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when required.
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) completed or in progress is considered a strong asset.
  • Solid foundation in accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with integrity.
