Dessert Holdings is looking for a Regulatory Compliance Manager to help administer Dessert Holdings’ Regulatory Compliance Program, with responsibilities including that packaging, specifications, and labeling meet regulatory requirements for the country of sale. This position also reviews raw materials to determine if they meet regulatory requirements while supporting the supplier complaint process.  This position will manage a Regulatory Affairs Specialist.  We are looking for a leader who demonstrates a bias for action, the ability to be resilient, and is able to instill trust.

This is a hybrid position that can work remotely by will require the ability to be onsite in London, Ontario for training and on an ongoing basis, as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with regulatory agencies to monitor upcoming regulatory changes, and keep the team and other cross-functional partners informed of any emerging risks that may impact products, labeling, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain ingredient declarations and nutrition fact tables/panels for products to ensure compliance with regulations for country of sale.
  • Create and maintain formulations and nutrient values within Genesis R&D Software Program.
  • Review raw material specifications, nutrition facts & other regulatory documents for raw materials, packaging & suppliers to ensure they meet compliance requirements.
  • Support regulatory and certification audits and site visits, including GFSI, Kosher, and Halal certification programs.
  • Support the launch of new products by completing regulatory reviews, customer documentation and nutrition & ingredient information.
  • Support Sales with customer driven requests and requirements relevant to technical documents, questions, and product development.
  • Create and maintain internal / external customer specifications including regulatory information for customer specification portals.
  • Manage Master Case Label creation and file maintenance as applicable.
  • Manage and complete projects initiated by upper management and customer requirements.
  • Provide risk based regulatory reviews of label impacts due to emerging supply chain shortages and/or initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Food Science, Nutrition, or other closely related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Regulatory and/or Quality Assurance Management, and/or Research and Development within the food/bakery industry
  • Up-to-date knowledge of FCA/CFIA, and other emerging market regulations, policies, and scientific knowledge, as well as an understanding of Quality Management systems including GFSI, HACCP, and GMPs
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in nutrition software programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with influencing and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to communicate regulatory and technical issues in clear and concise terms to non-technical audiences
  • Strong team player with the ability to build relationships to achieve project goals
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and demonstrated ability to manage and meet deadlines for multiple projects and assigned tasks
  • Must be willing to work overtime when project work requires
