Health and Safety Administrator

We are seeking a Health and Safety Administrator to report to the Health and Safety Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administration functions for all occupational health, safety, and environmental systems at J-AAR. They will actively promote a health and safety culture to all levels of employees.
Environment
While supporting a construction environment you will spend the majority of the time working within an office environment and occasionally work at site locations throughout the year and in various physical and environmental conditions. You will have the ability to work the occasional evenings and weekends. Your support during incident investigations may require you to work outside of your normal working hours.
How you will make an IMPACT
- Promote occupational health, safety and environmental measures throughout the organization and act as a resource to J-AAR.
- Administer and assist with the management of the health and safety systems, including the manuals, programs, policies and databases.
- Create reports using data and metrics at regular intervals for management review.
- Administer and organize all incident investigations, causes, and corrective actions.
- Administer and organize all inspections and corrective actions.
- Communicate with executive, managers, supervisors and workers as needed to ensure reports, inspections and incident investigations are complete and accurate.
- Assist with the development and implementation of health, safety and environmental policies, and procedures.
- Assist in the administration and maintenance of the ISO 45001 certification.
- Assist in the planning and organizing of all employee health, safety and environmental training and meetings.
- Monitor and assist with the administration of commercial driver files, records and CVOR reports.
- Assist with compliance and correspondence of the legislative requirements of applicable Ministry and other regulatory agencies.
- Assist in any WSIB claims, return to work programs, and injury case management.
- Maintain a current inventory of all hazardous products records and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- You will keep an accurate inventory of all PPE.
- Maintain and organize all required PPE and any health and safety related tools, supplies and documents.
- Perform occasional field work as needed, including inspections and investigations.
- You will conduct new employee orientations
- Actively participate in any training programs and courses as directed by management relevant to the role.
- Attend health and safety meetings to present, report and/or document minutes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
How you WOW us
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role with a focus on administration is required, preferably within a construction environment.
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills with the ability to create, edit, and maintain accurate reports and data.
- Proficiency in computer software; solid Microsoft Office skills are required.
- Experience with ISO development, administration, and implementation is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant regulations.
- Must be comfortable speaking to small and large groups of people for training, presentations.
- Required to reach, bend, lift and carry.
- Personal protective equipment is required to be worn at most work locations and will include various types.
- Driving in all-weather types and conditions.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driver’s abstract is required.
