Unifin International, a Wabtec Company in London, Ontario, was originally founded in the 1920’s. We are an electric equipment cooling company, focused on the power generation and transmission markets. Our primary business is within North America, but we reach worldwide from legacy fossil fuel and nuclear plants to growing renewable energy power grids.
Who will you be working with?
As a member of the team at Unifin International, you will be working with the Assembly Department. You will report to the Production Supervisor and work with 34 experienced production team members.
How will you make a difference?
We have a current opening for an individual who has the knowledge, skills, and experience to fulfill an important Assembler role. This important role will learn, and gain experience to become an experienced assembler and eventually move into a more senior role as an assembler. This individual is highly motivated, willing to listen and learn, take guidance from senior employees, and willing to put in the time and effort to be a future leader in assembly.
What do we want to know about you?
- Able to work as an individual or with other departments to meet customer demands and expectations;
- Overhead crane material handling experience;
- Attention to detail;
- Dedicated worker who wants to reach their full potential;
- Minimum 5 years as a highly experienced forklift operator with proven safety record. Experience unloading and loading flat beds;
- Able to lift 50lbs.
What will your typical day look like?
- Working in a fast-paced manufacturing assembly environment;
- Work collaboratively with 2 – 4 team members on the assembly line;
- Ability to understand and execute direction from supervisor to meet production goals and deadlines;
- At times, working alone on various tasks;
- Ability to deal with assembly issues, stressful situations, all while meeting tight critical deadlines with assembly team;
- Operate overhead and jib cranes safely;
- Be responsible for your own safety, while ensuring you are keeping your team safe as well;
- Ability to use various wrenches, impact gun, grinders, measuring tape, ply bars, hammers, and various other manufacturing tools;
- Ability to plan your time to efficiently assemble product with speed and accuracy;
- Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures to correctly assemble components and products;
- Interpret drawings and other written instructions to accurately assemble products;
- Inspect components and assemblies for defects and ensure that all assembled products meet the required specifications and quality standards;
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to promote a safe working environment;
- Record production and operational data accurately and maintain logs of product assembly;
- Working with welded and machined parts ranging from 1 Lb. to 250 Lbs.;
- Possess hand and eye coordination to assemble various fasteners;
- Detailed oriented;
- Load or unload trucks using a forklift, when required;
- Move material to other departments, when required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee will occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.
Safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes and hearing protection must be worn for the entirety of the shift.
Benefits of Working at Unifin International
Wages: First six months – probation - $28.81 + $2.21 COLA* = $31.02
After probation – full rate - $32.01 + $2.21 COLA* = $34.22
COLA* - adjusted quarterly
Day shift – 40-hour work week; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.;
Annual vacation; company-paid holidays;
Benefits, effective upon hire, include health care, dental, vision, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, disability coverage, Group RRSP/DPSP;
Safety boot and prescription-safety-glasses allowance;
On-site parking, on bus route.
