Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for providing mechanical expertise to the maintenance team, running the day-to-day functions in CMMS and helping implement capex/improvement projects. Also responsible for generating reports for Maintenance KPI’s and actioning tasks to help improve them. Working within the budget to keep the equipment at our sites in good operation and building up spares/consumables as the Maintenance department grows.  Effective communication with all functional groups at multiple sites to act as a liaison ensuring maintenance tasks are performed, completed, and closed out in a timely manner.   Must possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to wok on various equipment or machines either alone or with other members of the Maintenance Team.

Position Overview

  • Daily tour of facility to look for issues to ensure all equipment is in a good state of repair
  • Working with CMMS
  • Creating PM’s, closing out work orders, assigning asset ID’s, creating/monitoring spare parts, planning
  • Responding to maintenance requests
  • Performing mechanical maintenance tasks as required
  •  PM’s, troubleshooting, repairs, installations
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance team, contractors or suppliers
  • Sending out equipment for repairs/rebuilds
  • Maintaining records of the equipment location and status 
  • Sourcing spare parts or fabrication services for resolving breakdowns to continuous improvement projects
  • Escort contractors or suppliers while on site
  • Follow and enforce company safety procedures
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

  • Diploma from a certified post-secondary 2-year Technician or 3-year Technologist program.
  • 4 years work experience in a related industry required.
  • Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical equipment, sensors, small motors, instrumentation necessary.
  • Solid knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical concepts required.
  • Programming and troubleshooting experience with programmable devices an asset.
  • OACETT membership an asset.
  • Must be an open work permit holder in Canada, permanent resident or Canadian Citizen.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical role
  • Experience within cannabis industry an asset
  • Experience within GMP or GPP facilities an asset
  • Working at heights with proper certifications
  • Operation of forklifts or other equipment typically used at a production facility
  • Knowledge of safe work practices according to WHMIS/GHS, OHSA
  • Computer use for data entry, creating/closing orders

 

Skills Required

  • Mechanically inclined
  • Knowledge related to HVAC, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, basic plumbing
  • Use of hand tools
  • Computer skills
  • CMMS experience an asset
  • MS Office /Google suite
  • Forklift/scissor lift operation
  • Read and interpret drawings, manuals or written documents
  • Periodically lift up to 50 lbs and spend hours standing, sitting and/or walking during a normal day

 

WORKING CONDITIONS (ON SITE):

 

This role is performed on site in our Aylmer, Ontario location . Once our London, Ontario site is running, there will be a requirement to work there as well. Motif provides all required PPE and has continued manufacturing safety protocols: a well-fitted mask must be worn while inside our production areas.

SCHEDULE

? “Half Continental” rotating shift schedule (Days ONLY): 4 days one week, 3 days the following week

?  Sunday through to Saturday (7-day operation). Hours are 7:30am – 8:00pm (12.5 hours)

?  Breaks are: three 30 min breaks to be broken up based on team needs and discussed with Supervisor/Manager
