Verification Specialist
 

Accountabilities

  • Carry out assignments of substantial variety and/or complexity requiring a sound understanding of related engineering or scientific theory, principles and practices to support product development and product engineering activities
  • Assists in the development of new test protocols
  • Develops operating, maintenance, and test procedures based on laboratory standards and safety policies. 
  • Designs, adapts, or directs the building of test setups and equipment to new situations, based on analysis of test specifications and engineering department requests and instructions
  • Prepares purchase and material requisitions. Recommends solutions to observed test problems
  • Participate in root cause analysis and investigations of materials failure and testing issues
  • Operates with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility
  • Communicates with department personnel to receive instructions, convey data and determine equipment availability and with internal clients during test setup and performance to demonstrate or otherwise illustrate equipment test methods and/or discuss test results
  • Strategic matters or decisions are usually referred to more senior authority
  • Provides professional and comprehensive documentation
  • Support and troubleshoot vendor hardware and firmware issues as required
  • Build rapid prototypes of product concepts to illustrate design concepts
  • Participate in testing and field verification
  • Participate in design reviews to offer ideas and recommendations from tests performed
  • Periodic travel is required to test sites

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering/Technology with related field experience.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a productive member of a development/sustainment team
  • Working knowledge and experience in mechanical/electrical/instrumentation and controls design
  • Experience with Electronic Systems, Electronics Troubleshooting, Electronic Testing Design, Project Management, Quality Focus, Creativity, problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in using Solidworks CAD software and strong computer skills is an asset
  • Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly
  • Hands on skills like soldering and using basic hand tools
