We are seeking a Lands Management Supervisor that will manage a portfolio of properties, reserves, and compliance mandates for up to 50 properties. The Lands Management Supervisor will report to the VP of Materials Division.  

 

Environment? 

The Lands Management Supervisor is responsible for managing the division’s land and reserve assets and minimizing the need for third party expenses. The Lands Management Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to land use and environmental protection. 

How you will make an IMPACT 

Property Management 

  • Coordinates and controls property taxes and appeal processes, and provincial or local planning or annexation impacts. 
  • Coordinates and controls rental income and royalty agreements with landowners, vendor partners and legal advisors. 
  • Administrates property acquisition and divestments with internal departments. 
  • Coordinates and approves all rehabilitation activities with Operations and general superintendents. 
     

Reserve Management 

  • Supervises full portfolio of mineral rights including quantity and quality records. 
  • Obtains license, permits and approvals necessary for the company’s operations. 
  • Assists with the evaluation of potential future reserves and mining plans. 
  • Provides input into capital and operating expenditures required for property and reserve use planning. 

 

Regulatory Management 

  • Researches, prepares, and submits site plan amendments or special use permits as required under supervision of the General Supervisor.  
  • Sets up and maintains regulatory compliance documentation (ECA and Ontario Aggregate Resource Corporation (TOARC)).; reviews and approves technical data and verifies for accuracy prior to submission to regulatory authorities; negotiates directly with regulatory authorities regarding company's filings and maintains accurate records for auditing.   
  • Assists with contracts for external support services and contractors related to property and reserve management with the assistance of the general superintendents. 
  • Acts as the lead in environmental stewardship ensuring regulatory adherence, mitigating risks, and implementing ethical best-practices by coordinating with external stakeholders and operations staff.  

 

Community and Government Relations 

  • Builds rapport and maintains relationship with local municipal representatives and technical staff related to new or changing impacts to lands and reserves. 
  • Communicates on behalf of the Company to local municipal affairs, public open houses, award applications and media outlets.  
  • Maintains a detailed knowledge of applicable legislation, planning, and zoning in all jurisdictions where the company operates by monitoring policies and practices issued by regulatory agencies. 

 

Environmental Compliance and Business Development 

  • Lead the divisions in new, upcoming technologies and processes, including: 
  • Excess Soil regulations, use and implementation. 
  • Alternative Fuel Projects and renewable energy sources 
  • Coordinate carbon footprint reduction goals with division leads 
  • Submit Environmental Product Declarations for governing associations.  
  • Administrate government funding programs when necessary. 

 

How you WOW us 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as geography, planning, environmental science/studies from a recognized institution or equivalent 
  • Minimum 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products 
  • Experience required with Ontario Ministry applications 
  • Ontario drivers license, Glass G 
  • Experience with land leases, royalties, property management, real estate, zoning, conditional and special use permits, environmental permits, land reclamation, and Provincial regulatory standards 
  • Must be able to understand and qualify business risk 
  • Must be a self-starter, embrace change and identify barriers to achieving the department’s goals and overcome them 
  • Travel to various sites may result in up to 70% of the time being spent away from the base location, London, ON
