Tool And Die Maker

We are hiring a Tool and Die Maker based out of our St. Thomas, ON location!

Shifts is Straight Days (Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3;30pm) OR Straight Afternoons (Monday to Thursday, 3:30pm -1:30am).

Hourly Rate - $37.40

Tool Allowance - $300

Position Summary:

The Tool and Die maker is responsible for using metal cutting machines and other niche equipment to manufacture, modify, maintain, refurbish and repair punches, dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, machine parts, prototypes, test equipment, display mounts, and automated equipment.
 

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

• Design, manufacture, modify, and repair production tooling and equipment

• Troubleshoot tooling and equipment issues

• Program and troubleshoot CNC Programs

• Suggest tooling and equipment improvements

• Support in the manufacture prototypes and test equipment for product engineering

• Repair and maintain tool room equipment

• Evaluate tooling and material needs; provide order lists

• Measure and confirm new or modified tooling is built to dimensions and tolerances as outlined on drawings

• Rotation through various work areas and shifts
   

Health & Safety:

• Maintain a safe workplace

• Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor

• Align with company policies, procedures, and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)

• Participation is required in our internal responsibility system (right to know, right to refuse, right to participate)

• Follow safe work and lockout/tagout procedures as required

• Report unsafe conditions or hazards as soon as possible to your supervisor

• Maintain a clean working environment

• Follow and maintain WHMIS requirements

• Annual medical surveillance may be required
   

Qualification:

• Certified Tool and Die Maker (Red Seal preferred)

• Ability to read blueprints

• Ability to use various measuring devices

• Solid understanding and experience with computers

• Able to read and follow work instructions

• Proven knowledge of tool and fixture design

• Knowledge of brazing, grinding, turning, drilling, milling, and heat treating

• Ability to troubleshoot

• Welding experience is an asset

• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
   

Educational Requirements:

• O.S.S.D or equivalent

• Tool & Die Maker licence (Red Seal)

• Certificate of apprenticeship
