Role Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lean Coordinator will ensure process excellence by leading Presstran’s Magna Factory Concept Program: MAFACT, and will work with all departments throughout the MAFACT process including administering the implementation of improvement ideas (Employee Involvement Program) and being the lead contact during MAFACT Audits. The incumbent is required to become a MAFACT subject expert as they will be required to work with all departments to ensure that acceptable audit results are obtained.

The Coordinator will be responsible to monitor and direct the day to day operation of the Employee Involvement program.   Working with the Presstran Team and submitted ideas, it is their responsibility to develop, analyze and implement continuous improvements to meet long-term customer required cost reductions and maintain profitability. 

 


Key Responsibilities

DUTIES:

Acquire an in-depth understanding and knowledge of Presstran’s manufacturing operations and supporting processes

Encourage, support, educate, and promote the benefits of becoming a Lean Organization using Lean tools while leading and supporting continuous improvement work throughout the plant

Identify, communicate, and implement opportunities to meet and exceed established targets that will improve overall safety, productivity, quality, and service

Investigate and remedy issues using approved problem-solving techniques: 5 Why, Fishbone analysis, etc.

Design and complete experiments to show the benefits of potential improvements visually, statically and or using data-driven, evidence-based decision making

Ensure Presstran business plan and departmental goals and objectives are met on time and budget

Prepare, facilitate, and actively participate in lean teams, activities, and events.

Conduct all business activity in a professional manner consistent with the positive professional practices of building trust, empowerment, and competitiveness, with emphasis on personal responsibility

Tracking, reporting, and analysis of metrics relating to program maturity, participation and business benefits

Continually look for, suggest, communicate and implement ideas to improve the EI program

 


Key Qualifications/Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of a related specialized course or engineering or Industrial related program from a recognized community college or university, consisting of more than two academic years. Equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be considered

3-5 years related work experience in multiple areas of an automotive manufacturing environment is a definite asset

Strong knowledge of continuous improvement techniques, Six Sigma techniques, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TWI, and Quality and Environmental Management Systems

Required to act as a role model to support cultural change and to foster behaviours that drive continuous improvement and employee involvement

Able to deal effectively with people and exhibit maturity in judgement. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with employees throughout the plant

Must have experience delivering presentations, facilitating project planning and proposal development, and measuring improvement effectiveness

Strong technical background with ability to ‘think outside the box’ and challenge the status quo by encouraging creative thinking and supporting ideas beyond those of a traditional manufacturing industry

Good organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Must have good communication skills; Able to work shift work and flexibility in hours to meet customer needs

Familiarity with FMEA, APQP, etc.,
