Team Lead - Project Management
Who is the Automation & Robotics Team?
We tackle challenging robotic pick-and-place, packaging, palletizing, assembly, and quality inspection applications for clients across North America in multiple industries. Typical projects range between 3-12 months in duration, $100k to $5M+ in value, and 3 to 20 team members you can count on.

Position Overview
The Team Leader - Project Management is responsible for coaching and leading a team of Project Managers as they execute projects. They will work closely with the Automation & Robotics Division Leadership team to support the division’s quarterly, annual and long-term priorities. They actively contribute to the project management community and strive for excellence on their projects. They handle difficult customer conversations effectively, seek win-win outcomes, stick to tightly defined project scope, and motivate their team to achieve results on time.
Role Mission/Purpose
The Project Manager Team Leader is responsible for ensuring we are consistently executing projects successfully. He/she works closely with the Automation and Robotics Leadership team.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Manage day to day project manager scheduling and planning, while also leading, inspiring, and motivating the team to do their best work
- Involved in performance reviews and subsequent development of employees
- Serve as ‘go-to person’ to deal with difficult political/technical/performance challenges. Sometimes through coaching/mentoring of project managers to deal with situations. Sometimes involves rolling up sleeves and handling directly.
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence (self-awareness, empathy, controlling emotions)
- Foster a workplace atmosphere that helps bring out the best in his or her team
Project Management Team Responsibilities
- Ensure project success including extraordinary customer experience (ECE), budget, project quality, system performance, consistency, project schedule, and timely billing/payments
- Ensure project managers hit individual performance targets/KPI’s, and training development plans
- Manage and evolve PM standards, tools, checklists and processes
- Mentor other JMP personnel on various aspects of projects
- Provide regular project updates to customer consistent with the Project Execution Process
- Lead customer meetings including project kickoff, ECA reviews, design reviews, FAT, etc.
- A working leader, this role will involve managing projects as well
Competencies: Skills, Knowledge, Experiences
- Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Engineering, C.E.T, P.M.P or similar accreditations are assets
- Strong project management ability and knowledge, previous experience managing and leading projects of various sizes
- A strong knowledge of the client service needs and technology in the marketplace
- Industry experience in industrial automation.
- Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
- Motivated and passionate about working with people and overcoming challenges through collaboration and a win-win paradigm
- Works well with a variety of different people from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent leadership and management skills
