Avionics Assembler

Location: Canada

As Avionics Assembler you are responsible for routing, wiring, assembling and installing electrical and electronic components in aircraft units such as main junction and terminal boxes, main control switch panels and instrument and radio panels, according to specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

> Work with jig boards, hand tools and equipment
> Read work orders, blueprints and specifications to determine established assembly methods
> Cut wire to specified lengths using wire cutters
> Cut plastic sleeves and slip sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections
> Crimp terminal eyelets and lug to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping device
> Route, comb, twist, wrap, tie and attach wire to terminal points, according to jig board layout, using soldering gun and hand tools
> Connect wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, condensers, switches and solenoids, and install accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using soldering gun and hand tools
> Conduct functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness and plugs using ohmmeter, test lights and other electrical testing instruments
> Pot or encapsulate electrical and electronic details
> May attach eyelets, terminals and mounting studs to etched circuit boards
> Install harnesses, cables and instrument panels into aircraft
> Perform all work in accordance with Health and Safety policies
> Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills & Experience:

> High School diploma or equivalent
> 1 to 3 years experience in a related field
> Ability to read and interpret drawings, documents and blueprints
> Experience working with avionics
> Excellent manual dexterity
> Effective time management skills
> Excellent team work skills
> Ability and willingness to work shift work and extended hours if required
