Are you interested in growing, developing and enabling the success of others?  If so, please consider the following opportunityWe are looking for people who align with GDLS-C’s Leadership Commitment, which includes the desire to drive change, develop talent,  communicate effectively, be accountable, act as a role model, demonstrate competency and credibility, and be resilient in the face of change.The Software Applications Area Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, status and delivery of Software Application products and solutions.  As the Software Applications Area Manager you will work closely with various stakeholders throughout the organization and most importantly your team of software developers.Responsibilities:

• Manage the team
  • Provide mentorship for team members
  • Manage performance of team members
  • Develop and manage training plans for team members
  • Support team members individually and as a group
  • Identify areas for improvement
• Manage technical execution of work (Scope, Cost, Schedule) across R&D, production, and technical changes.
  • Communicate and engage with employees to ensure appropriate senior technical SME support is enlisted for higher risk technical decisions, solutions, and analysis.  Seek technical mentoring relationships as needed
  • Manage team projects from bid and proposal to close out
  • Act as Cost Account Manager for all team activities, which includes completing status and taking timely action to mitigate impact of negative EVMS trends
  • Manage resource availability for projects
  • Manage team staffing in alignment with the Op Plan
  • Manage team processes and technical knowledge
• Manage Business relationships
  • Develop and maintain relationships across Engineering teams and stakeholder organizations (SCM, Program, SHO, etc.)
  • Manage relationships with peers and leader
  • Manage supplier and customer relationships

Requirements:

• • 3+ years’ experience leading a team
  • 5 to 7 years’ relevant expertise, across the full life cycle of multiple programs
  • University degree or College Diploma in relevant discipline
  • Good understanding of business processes
  • Awareness of EVMS and willingness to improve and promote application
  • Proficiency with the software development lifecycle both waterfall and agile methodologies

Preferred:

• • P.Eng, other relevant certification (CISSP, PMP, other)
  • Project management experience or certification (PMP)
  • Formal or informal leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.)
