Description
Design and implement logical, organized vision system programs to support efficient, fully functional automation systems that meet specifications within the timeline and budget provided.
Requirements
- Perform vision system feasibility investigations and hardware selection studies (camera, lens, lighting)
- Create functional vision system programs offline and develop standardized modules
- Develop and implement the communication and IO interfacing between devices and systems
- Create vision buy-off documentation (vision specifications and acceptance criteria)
- Deliver offline program structures to PLC group to incorporate into the machine
- Troubleshoot IO, communications and vision system function
- Aid in the assembly, installation and integration of vision system equipment
- Commission the equipment at the customer location by completing unit tests and interfacing with the rest of the equipment
- Dial-in the vision parameters to achieve the customer required acceptance criteria
- Provide accurate documentation for each project including operation information, manuals, troubleshooting tools and training materials
- Identify inefficiencies within the process along with entire machine build and systems team and make adjustments for improvement
- Work with customers, project managers, designers, millwrights and electricians to solve problems in order to provide customers with a complete functional system
- Work with other members of the engineering department to continuously improve methods of integrating vision technology to enhance functionality and reduce costs
- Research and evaluation of new products and technologies available in the market
- Assist in development of quotes and interact with component vendors
- Participate in identifying high risk areas, evaluate and implement methodologies for risk mitigation
- Continuous development, participation and implementation of BOS Standards for Vision Programming
- Mentor PLC programmers of varying experience in vision system integration
- Attend White Board meetings, Design Reviews and Project Kick Off meetings when required
