PLC Programmer
 

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Strong PLC, robotics and control wiring background.
  • Previous experience with Kuka and Motoman robotic equipment is an asset.
  • Previous experience with Beckhoff or Allen Bradley PLC/HMI’s an asset
  • Writing and debugging of PLC and Robotic programs.
  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair 24 volt or less industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Straight Shifts (Days 7am-3pm, Afternoons, 3pm-11pm, or Midnights 11pm-7am)
  • $36.75/hour + Shift premium
  • Unionized environment

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Industrial electrician apprenticeship program an asset.
  • College or industry degree in PLC programming, industrial electrical and robotics equipment.
  • Trade certification an asset.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in the electrical and/or robotics programming field.
  • Previous experience with Kuka and Motoman robotic equipment an asset.
  • Previous experience in cold stamping or hot stamping presses an asset
  • Previous experience with Beckhoff or Allen Bradley PLC/HMI’s an asset

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and interpret drawings and electrical code specifications to determine the layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Test electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records in accordance with standards established by the company.
  • Must be able to maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment. (mig and spot).
  • Perform other duties as required from time to time by your Manager/Supervisor.

EQUIPMENT AND/OR PRODUCT:

  • Various equipment including grinders, mills, lathes, MIG/TIG/ARC welders, robots, and stamping.
  • Must have the ability and knowledge of various electrical and electronic testing equipment.

  • Manufacturing Environment
  • Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations while working in “Just in Time” environment.

SAFETY AND HOUSEKEEPING:

  • Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the OHSA.
  • Follow and ensure the Company's procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant.
  • Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to the safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that your Department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.
  • Responsible for adhering to all Environmental Program ISO 14001 elements and attending training for same. Act in accordance to all Environmental policies, procedures and regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $36.75-$37.75 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
