Senior Controls Specialist

 

About the Senior Controls Specialist role:

The Senior Controls Specialist is the resident expert on Trojan systems for the identification, diagnosis, and resolution of any controls issues for plant operators, field service personnel, and the service provider network. The role requires complex problem-solving skills, working proficiency with multiple controls platforms, and adaptability due to the diversity of work. Intermittent international travel is to be expected. The ability to influence others, internally and externally, will be invaluable to the incumbent.

  • Provides identification, diagnosis, and resolution information to customers on complex, often vaguely defined operational issues

  • Interpret and explain technical information to customers at all levels

  • Advises, revises, and validates proposed controls solutions/plans

  • Conducts root-cause analysis, pushing beyond existing standard analytical techniques

  • Work involves solving unique problems, extending the boundaries of existing knowledge

  • Build and sustain positive and collaborative relationships with internal and external customers

  • Assess hardware and programming needs to replace obsolete control hardware for customer systems, including an estimate of labor and programming time, in the pursuit of implementing a viable turn-key solution

  • Serves as the technical subject matter authority of specific controls in software/hardware

  • Perform onsite diagnosis of issues; Troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning controls equipment when vital

Are you qualified?

  • Post-secondary education in a related field; P.Eng. is preferred

  • 5-10 years of experience of relevant experience

  • Experience working in a technical service and/or customer service environment, preferably in the water/wastewater industry

  • Proven problem-solving abilities

  • Strong team acumen and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment

  • Attention to detail and tactical execution

  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a global environment

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the year
