Financial Systems Analyst

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Financial Systems Analyst will combine financial analysis, reporting, and business systems analysis to support solutions that will ensure the operational effectiveness and excellence of the organization. Reporting to the Director of Business Services, they will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the company’s financial reporting systems, key operational metrics and take part in the Continuous Improvement initiative for BOS processes to support company goals and objectives and post implementation will be the Power User of the system, working with all areas of the business to utilize the system to maximize departmental efficiency. Post implementation, the successful candidate will also support general.

RESPONSIBILITIES

During Implementation:

  • Take the role of Project Manager for the Microsoft Dynamics – Business Central implementation
  • Ensure system enhancements support BOS long term needs for data accumulation and analysis
  • Provide support in the development, implementation, and optimization of business application systems
  • Develop comprehensive training programs for Microsoft Dynamics – Business Central and conduct training for all BOS employees
  • Provide BOS employees training on the use of financial systems and functions
  • Act as a liaison to the IT/Business Systems department
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Post Implementation:

  • Act as the Power User of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
  • Take a role in the Continuous improvement team at BOS to enhance BOS processes in Operations & Support Services
  • Work with departmental leads to understand the area processes and identify how the system can optimize departmental efficiency and produce reporting
  • In coordination with departmental leads, develop key operational metrics through the PowerBI platform to support company goals and objectives
  • Use critical thinking drawn from professional experiences, market, and industry knowledge, data, intuition, and financial statements, to develop actionable insights, make decisions, and set direction
  • Assembling, analyzing, and presenting information as part of the business planning and analysis process to include monthly/quarterly performance
  • Conduct data analysis to provide detailed information to senior management concerning the company’s financial performance, business operations and strategic plans, and significant financial management issues
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Finance:

  • Support general Finance activities including internal and statutory and regulatory reporting (to be determined in consultation with Finance)
  • Building and interpreting financial models
  • Support year-end financial statement preparation
  • Ensuring the internal control environment meets the requirements of BOS
  • Analyze data and financial systems processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and communicating recommendations to management
  • Compiling, reporting and analyzing cost center budgets and forecasts ensuring proper communication and explanations to cost center owners
  • Participating actively in projects and ad-hoc analysis/questions related to reporting, pricing, COGS, etc.
  • Ensuring the internal control environment meets the requirements of BOS.
  • Analyze data and financial systems processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and communicating recommendations to management
  • Compiling, reporting and analyzing cost center budgets and forecasts ensuring proper communication and explanations to cost center owners
  • Participating actively in projects and ad-hoc analysis/questions related to reporting, pricing, COGS, etc.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and/or financial analysis required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business required CPA an asset
  • Experience in manufacturing environment or other supply chain / costing area preferred.
  • Experience participating on projects, supporting finance initiatives with the business, preferred.
  • Experience with transaction & reporting systems.
  • Microsoft Power platform, Automate and BI
  • Microsoft Dynamics – Business Central

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:

  • Proven knowledge of financial accounting standards and GAAP required.
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of different financial and analytical techniques preferred and the capability to plan own work and respect deadlines required.
  • Strong proven knowledge of cost accounting practices and financial accounting standards.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities required.
  • Demonstrated ability to make judgments based on analysis of factual information, practice and previous experience/reasonable assumptions required.
  • Excellent interpersonal (written and verbal) communications skills with a demonstrated ability to work across functions & cultures and interact with all levels of the organization required.
  • Demonstrated ability of being a dynamic self-starter, to work independently and apply sound judgment to solve complex problems with incomplete and/or ambiguous information required and to proactively initiate action steps required.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once, work under pressure, apply judgment and ask for aid in prioritizing as applicable required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills required.
