Quality Assurance Supervisor
Dessert Holdings® is North America's premium dessert company, recognized for providing our retail and foodservice customers with chef-inspired innovative desserts made with real ingredients. Based in St. Paul, Minnesota, Dessert Holdings is an umbrella organization of three premium dessert companies and brands: The Original Cakerie, Lawler's Desserts, and Atlanta Cheesecake Company.
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity to grow and gain experience with The Original Cakerie. Under the direction of the Quality Manager.
Responsibilities:
- QA team scheduling and coordination of tasks
- Provide support and guidance to QA technicians regarding quality and food safety issues
- Maintaining HACCP (update plan on new products, ingredients, process, annual training, organize monthly HACCP meetings, validation study)
- Responsible for ordering and monitoring QA and Lab supplies, seeking new suppliers, coordinate training from supplier or new equipment purchased
- Overseeing lab activities (review and summarize testing results and provide corrective action) and communicating results of testing to operations
- Review technicians’ daily reports
- Participate in internal audits, in –house inspections, third party audits
- Review and release on HOLD product, communicate to all stakeholders
- Update on non-conforming reports (ingredients or packaging)
- Participate in weekly review of current policies and procedures
- Manage Deviations, Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions program, and customer complaints
- New Products development support
- Responsible for creating sampling plans based on risk and interpret results. Provide final disposition based on statistical analysis.
Qualifications Required
Preferred Skills
- Supervisory experience preferred
- BSc in Food Science (Microbiology) or Diploma in Food Science or related discipline
- HACCP training, PCQI/FSMA training
- Statistics knowledge
- Self-driven individual with strong ability to manage ambiguity, multi-task, work with minimal supervision and who adapts readily to changes in priorities and business conditions
- Communicates effectively with colleagues across a range of disciplines and all levels of management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills and executive presence
- Fits well in an environment that rewards bright, self-starting, energetic, and action-orientated managers with increasing responsibility and challenge
- Professional and personal integrity beyond reproach
