COMPANY

WeedMD Inc. is the publicly-traded parent company of WeedMD Rx Inc., a federally-licensed producer and distributor of cannabis and cannabis oil for both the medical and adult-use markets under the Cannabis Act. The Company operates two facilities: a 26,000 sq. ft. indoor facility in Aylmer, Ontario and a state-of-the-art greenhouse facility located in Strathroy, Ontario. The greenhouse currently has 110,000 square feet of licensed space in production and is expected to have a total footprint of more than 550,000 square feet online in early 2019. WeedMD has a multi-channeled distribution strategy that includes supply agreements with Shoppers Drug Mart and provincial distribution agencies, as well as through strategic relationships across the seniors’ market in Canada.

SUMMARY

WeedMD is recruiting Casual Horticultural Labourers to assist in all aspects of production including, but not limited to, cultivation, trimming, sanitation, packaging, and outdoor grow.

As a horticultural labourer you

  • Adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures for the Good Production Practices (GPP) operations of WeedMD

  • Ensure that the handling of the cannabis product is in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures, procedures and quality requirements.

  • Ensure the security measures are being followed in accordance with the Security Standard Operating Procedures

Cultivation

  • Perform duties related to the care and maintenance of cannabis within the greenhouse. Maintain cannabis plants in grow rooms. Harvesting, trimming, cloning, pest scouting, water testing, recording and measuring plant data, room and equipment cleaning and sterilization

  • Cleaning and maintenance of all areas of the facility including the exterior when necessary. Cleaning of equipment and supplies.

  • Generate and maintain Good Production Practices documents for the product pursuant to the job function

  • Additional duties as required

Trimming

  • Hand trim or machine trim product to prepare it for the next stage of processing

  • Consistently and routinely inspect plants for disease and pests; perform quality control inspections of final trimmed products

  • Weigh and record materials for performance tracking and complete all required documentation; ensure waste products are accurately labeled and documented appropriately

  • Move cannabis (pre- and post-processed) between production environments in an efficient and sanitary manner

  • Ensure all equipment and rooms (grow, processing and dry rooms) have been cleaned and sterilized according to SOPs and requirements and recorded in appropriate logs

  • Ensure the wash bay remains organized and all equipment is cleaned in a timely manner so that flow is not interrupted

  • Assist with inventory counts as required

  • Additional duties as required

Sanitation

  • Perform cleaning and sanitation of facility, production equipment, etc. in a thorough and safe manner

  • Coordinates cleaning with production for on time production start-up

  • Ensure accurate sanitation record keeping of work areas

  • Additional duties as required

Packaging

  • Evaluation of packaging equipment scales, scanner guns, printers and labeling equipment

  • Sort, label, grade and inspect packaged products

  • Responsible for packaging integrity and quality checks on each packaging order

  • Monitor correct product weights and ensure that they are maintained

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area by ensuring that floors are clean and organized appropriately

  • Additional duties as required

Outdoor Grow

  • Preparing soil for planting of cannabis plants

  • Planting of cannabis plants

  • Care and maintenance of cannabis plants including watering, weed maintenance, pest scouting, harvesting

  • Additional duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Flexibility to work at both the Aylmer and Strathroy facilities considered an asset

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Horticulture/Agricultural experience an asset

  • Must be punctual, reliable and have a good attendance record

  • Minimum availability of 2 days a week.

  • Successful candidates, upon selection, will submit to an RCMP criminal background check

  • Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate considered an asset

  • Knowledge of health and safety best practices

  • Ability to communicate with team to ensure proper flow of information

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift a maximum of 50 lbs.

  • Physical labour; repetitive tasks, combination of standing, bending, walking.

  • Working in indoor greenhouse conditions

  • Working in outdoor conditions, exposure to outdoor elements
