VP, Operations (Manufacturing)

As a member of the Product Fulfillment team and as a new Steelway family member, you will join a diverse, dynamic group of highly motivated individuals that bring with them a wide array of talents, skills and backgrounds.

 

As the VP of Operations (Manufacturing), you will lead and drive operational excellence within our manufacturing division. This crucial role requires an individual who will strategize and oversee the production processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to industry standards.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Participate in strategic planning and participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Demonstrate a relentless obsession with our higher purpose, core values and our employee centred culture.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring a safety culture, efficient resource allocation, budget management, and performance tracking.
  • Train employees in the ISO system and execute the required procedures to maintain the ISO standard certification.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and operational efficiency enhancements.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational performance and drive strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align operations with sales, engineering, and project management functions to meet customer demands and achieve business targets.
  • Develop and implement risk management and business continuity plans to mitigate operational disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives, minimizing the organization's environmental impact while maximizing resource efficiency.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and partners to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the operations department.
  • Host regular meetings with staff to discuss plans and address concerns.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of success in optimizing operations, driving process improvements, and achieving strategic goals.
  • Experience in a relevant industry, such as manufacturing and logistics.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant software and tools for operations management, ERP system.
  • Professional certifications in operations management or related fields are an asset.
  • Experience in steel fabrication and welding is an asset.
  • Experienced in custom manufacturing for versatile customer needs.
  • Well-informed about collective agreements for labour relations.
  • Expert in production flow optimization for enhanced productivity.
  • Capable of overseeing material forecasting for inventory management.
  • Skilled in vendor negotiations and risk analysis for supply chain reliability.
  • Proficient in MRP functionality and reporting for resource management and inventory control.
  • Well-versed in manufacturing health and safety.
  • Proficient in equipment maintenance for reliability.
  • Skilled in cost analysis and implementation for efficiency.
  • Knowledgeable in capital investment for growth and resource allocation.
