Protein Business Operations & Supply Chain Rotational Associate Position

The Protein Business Operations & Supply Chain Rotational Program is a two-year rotational program within Cargill Protein North America, with 1 year spent in an Operations role and 1 year spent in a Supply Chain role at one of our plant locations. This unique program provides the opportunity to gain training, experience, and exposure to both Operations and Supply Chain. In this program, you will focus on developing the key skills and capabilities early in your career that are critical for future leaders within Business Operations and Supply Chain at Cargill. Participants will receive real, immediately impactful, and diverse experiences in each rotation. You will have the opportunity to explore and determine your passion in a world-class BOSC organization, while having a dedicated support system to ensure you are reaching your full potential.

Plant Operations

The 1 year spent in an Operations role is a training opportunity that will prepare you for a plant Operations Supervisor role at the conclusion of the program. It enables you to become familiar with the workflow of plant operations, giving you the opportunity to learn and shadow across various plant teams and departments. The duration of the training and time spent in each department will vary based on the business needs and previous experience. Primary training could include:
  • Operations
  • Shipping/Receiving
  • Warehouse
  • Food Safety Quality & Regulatory (FSQR)
  • Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Engineering/Maintenance
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Human Resources/Talent Management/Employee Relations
  • Accounting
Plant Operations Environment: This role requires the associate to learn about the business through performing critical tasks executed within the production environment that will involve physical activity in our protein processing facilities. This generally requires a moderate amount of physical exertion on a fairly regular basis. The work may also involve other conditions or exposures (i.e. heat, cold, wet environments, etc.). Depending on the business, this role will require occasional shifts including 2nd and 3rd shift hours, and Saturdays.

Supply Chain

The 1 year spent in a Supply Chain role is a training opportunity that will give you exposure to the many different areas of Cargill Protein’s complex Supply Chain. This rotation will give you hands-on exposure and ownership within one of our Supply Chain roles, and also provide opportunities to shadow and gain exposure across other Supply Chain teams as well. During the supply chain rotation, you will tackle real challenges, cultivate your curiosity, have client exposure, enjoy both personal and team accomplishments, and have your initiative acknowledged along the way.  Supply Chain teams you could have exposure to include:
  • Demand Planning
  • Supply Planning
  • Scheduling & Production Planning
  • Data & Analytics
  • Warehouse & Inventory Management
  • Materials Management
  • Merchandising
  • Customer Replenishment & Account Management

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited program in supply chain, operations management, procurement, statistics, mathematics, engineering, MIS, or other related agriculture/business disciplines, graduating between Fall 2021 and Spring 2022
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada 
  • Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from a diverse group of backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral
  • Willingness to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts and weekends should the need arise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Previous internship or work-related experience
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong aptitude for business
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently
  • Strong prioritization and problem solving skills, collaboration skills, verbal and written communication skills, and information research and gathering skills
