POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the flow of product through the workstation. Ensure orders are processed in priority order to meet scheduling targets
- Maintain all product levels to ensure adequate supplies to complete each day’s production.
- Maintain and clean all equipment and workstations each day.
- Operate machinery and undertake any material handling duties as per the standard operating procedures. Ensure that all are guards and safety devices are in place prior to operations.
- Attention to quality – identify production/quality issues to the supervisor; act on individual product quality issues, do not pass on to next workstation.
- Work efficiently to minimize cycle times, to meet production targets.
- Follow procedures as it relates to the flow of products through the workstation
- Expedite reworks, addons, valances and accessories to complete orders
- Follow and update the production schedules
- Complete any required documentation
- Move to other workstations to help others when appropriate or as directed.
- Ensure lockout procedures are adhered to prior to any maintenance, cleaning etc.
- Minimize waste – e.g. use of remnants, vinyl, etc.
- Follow schedules and perform work as assigned by department supervisor.
- Adhere to all Northern Contours, Inc. policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Knowledge of operating procedures and documentation requirements
- Product knowledge
- Attention to detail
- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications.
- Trained for various workstations
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to facilitate continuous improvement opportunities, preferably with Lean application
- 1 -3 years’ experience in a production environment
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Manufacturing environment which requires precaution, training, and safety equipment (including safety glasses, ear plugs, closed toe shoes, gloves etc.)
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts while performing job
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks while staying focused
- Production setting - Dust
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
- Noise level is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
