Quality Engineering Coordinator

    As a Quality Engineering Coordinator you will play an integral role in supporting our customers through maintaining good quality products, by applying quality engineering methodologies to our internal production as well as supplied products.  This role will support our day to day production, our suppliers quality, as well as the launching of new products.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Support New Product Development projects through the application of stage gate / APQP style methodologies (maintain project timelines, PPAP, Control Plans, D/PFMEA, MSA, Inspection Requirements, gauge reviews).
    • Drive the development, qualification, and implementation of inspection, testing and measurement equipment.
    • Perform audits for internal processes as well as suppliers.
    • Support the upkeep of the Quality system by maintaining / creating procedures, work instructions and forms.
    • Support with the disposition of non-conforming material.
    • Support the day to day operations through the facilitation of problem solving events and capability studies.
    • Lead COQ projects using data from operations, and warranty.
    • Develop training material on relevant subjects and train personnel on methodologies & KPC’s. 
    • Act as a subject matter expert for problem solving methodologies.
    • Utilize root cause analysis system that focuses on team problem solving to resolve issues identified in design or manufacturing, and supports execution of corrective actions.
    • Lead process problem solving events with a hands-on approach.
    • Support department management in identification and improvement of Key Performance Indicators.
    • Develop and maintain master samples for production testing equipment.
    • Support employee training in the proper application of gauging, testing, first-off and in process inspection. 
    • Communicate and facilitate the solution of significant quality issues identified through daily management or supplier incoming inspection activities.
    • Prepare and present reports to team members and management as required.

     

    Health & Safety:

    • Maintain a safe workplace
    • Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor
    • Comply with the company policies and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
    • Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as required
    • Report unsafe conditions as soon as possible

     

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Minimum 5 years' experience in quality engineering preferred
    • O.S.S.D or equivalent and a College Degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field
    • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is an asset
    • Automotive and lean manufacturing background is an asset
    • Proven ability to create and execute projects that achieve identified targets and timelines
    • Proven knowledge of stage gate / APQP requirements (PPAP). 
    • Ability to produce succinct reports/presentations to communicate the status of assigned projects/tasks
    • Strong leadership abilities, and decision making; able to lead effective meetings and cross functional teams
    • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis background (8D, A3, 5 Why, Fishbone)
    • Yellow, Green or Black Belt (6 Sigma) is an asset
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated diplomacy and professionalism
    • Exceptional planning and organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Must be able to work with little supervision and be self-directed
    • Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Willingness to enroll in educational/training sessions as required
    • Strong ability to read blueprints and have GD&T knowledge
    • Proven track record of auditing and dealing with suppliers
    • Experience in a unionized environment would be an asset
