We are looking for a CNC Operator to work the afternoon shift from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Monday to Thursday (4 day work week x 10 hours).

 

Job summary

The CNC Operator runs the Computer Numerically Controlled (or CNC) machine, that turns raw wood materials into usable components.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare and operate CNC machine to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, drawings and read work orders to determine machine set up and material requirement.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machine.
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machine produces outputs according to specifications.
  • Supervise the machine while it executes the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
  • Preforms inspections of tooling pertaining to assigned machine.
  • Must be able to program different sizes of product for cut out purposes.
  • Responds quickly to production line concerns by solving minor problems and requesting assistance for problems beyond their expertise.
  • Maintain housekeeping and organization in warehouse and other material location area.
  • Ensure the product and/or materials meet quality expectations.
  • Report unsafe conditions or potential environmental impacts to the Manager
  • Participate in the continuous improvement efforts of the HSE Management System
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager
  • Ensure all requirements of the Quality Management System are followed
  • Ensure all applicable Health & Safety Management System policies and procedures and Environmental Management System policies and procedures are followed

 

Qualifications

 

Experience and Education (diploma, degree, or professional designation):

  • Two to three years of experience working on various machines or with CNC is an asset
  • High School Diploma
  • Post-secondary diploma in technical field is an asset

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong organizational communication (written and verbal)
  • Unwavering attention to detail
  • Knowledge of architectural specifications and wood products.
  • Knowledge of door construction, stile and rail, frames and specialty flush door.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to determine programming parameters.
  • Skilled in machine adjustment calculations
