Corporate EHS Manager

The Corporate EHS Manager provides strategic direction to support business strategy, including development of corporate environmental, health and safety policies and programs. The Corporate EHS Manager will lead, inspire, build and motivate while delivering on our higher purpose – ‘Enriching the lives of our partners’ and influence behaviour to create a safety culture of excellence.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

Health and Safety:

 

  • Ensure continuity of EHS practices across all Ardent companies, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategize EHS culture by actively engaging stakeholders, including Ownership, General Managers (GMs), Partner Experience team, and leaders, to promote ownership and participation in EHS initiatives.
  • Align corporate and local EHS goals and strategies by leading and developing policies and programs, including design, content, communication plans, resources, and tools at a corporate level in partnership with site HR / EHS Managers.
  • Conduct comprehensive compliance audits, reviewing existing processes and procedures, provide support for developing action plans to address identified gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Develop Ardent wide policies encompassing key EHS areas tailored to meet local regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Ardent companies by assisting in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, guidelines, conducting training and offering ongoing support.
  • Lead the implementation of EHS software (eCompliance), collaborating with the Program Manager to ensure seamless integration and user adoption.
  • Measure and analyze EHS statistics and recommends actions for improvement opportunities.
  • Reviews liabilities and potential risks and provides guidance and recommendations to mitigate.
  • Develops and maintains contacts within the industry and liaises with professional associations, and other relevant organizations to remain current in the field.

 

Environmental:

 

  • Ensure continuity of environmental practices across all Ardent companies, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct compliance environmental audits, provide support for developing actions plans to address environmental risks.
  • Lead pollution prevention activities by developing strategies to minimize environmental impact, reduce waste generation and promote sustainable practices.
  • Develops regular environmental reporting metrics to track key performance indicators and monitor environmental performance across Ardent.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

  •  University degree or college diploma, specializing in environmental or occupational health & safety discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading health and safety initiatives in a multi-site organization.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights Legislation, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail .
  • Health and safety-related designation is an asset (e.g. CRSP or CHSC).
  • Familiarization with third-party safety prequalifiers (ISNetworld, Avetta, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to each site on a regular basis.

This role could be assigned to one of our primary offices in Ontario, while travelling between various locations.
