Facilities Technician

 

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness and minor maintenance of Start.ca’s facilities. The Facilities Technician will ensure the daily cleanliness, care, and organization of all Start.ca facilities, routinely walking around the premises, inside and out, ensuring the safety and upkeep of all areas. Along with the responsibilities and requirements specific to this role, you are also expected to abide by and encourage Start’s Code of Conduct, helping to strengthen our trusting and positive work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fix minor building repairs, including patching dry wall, painting, and replacing carpets and tiles.
Daily property maintenance depending on weather conditions (steps, ramp, parking lot).
Clean and service indoor and outdoor fixtures as required.
Track, receive and order cleaning supplies.
General maintenance of office furniture. 
Support various departments to ensure space is clean and assist in the shipment of various products.
Clean areas that are missed and/or out of reach of janitors.
Daily cleaning of bathrooms and kitchen area. 
Clean Start.ca Fleet vehicles.
Identify and report any damages to manager.
Run maintenance errands for management and reception as required.
Deliver new hires equipment. |
Other appropriate responsibilities relevant to the role today and the role as it may evolve.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1-3 years of previous experience in a facility maintenance role.
Competent in the practices, processes, and materials used in building maintenance.
Keen eye for detail with a passion for cleanliness and organization.
Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines without compromising quality of work.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
Able to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions, or escalate as required.
High degree of professionalism, courteousness and friendliness.
Valid G level driver’s license and able to provide a driver’s abstract.
Strong communicator with the ability to connect, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to safely lift and carry items weighing 50lbs or more.
Repetitive motions for prolonged lengths of time may be required.
Comfortable working with strong smelling odors such as cleaners and solvents.
Able to perform computer work and other fine motor movements for up to 80% of each shift.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
