Who will you be working with?

Wabtec’s Bach-Simpson division is the lead Event Recorder OEM in the North American Transit market. It designs, develops, and maintains an array of electronic systems and Automated Test Equipment for passenger and freight rail markets.

 

How will you make a difference?

As a member of Bach-Simpson and Wabtec’s Core Electronics Group, you will be responsible for developing software in a managed process environment. This work including analyzing new requirements, and writing, testing, debugging, and improving both new and existing code. You will work in an Agile methodology, meeting daily with the team to facilitate work collaboration and to support each other. You will report to the Software Engineering Manager, who will meet with you during daily team stand-up meetings as well as quarterly or more for one on ones.

 

What do we want to know about you?

These are the key Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Degree/diploma in Computer Science or closely related field.
  • Five years’ experience with C programming on Linux
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) clearly, accurately, and eloquently in English
  • Ability to document the design architecture prior to coding
  • Excellent attention to detail in all phases of software development and testing
  • Customer facing experience (demo’s, support, technical presentations, etc.)

 

The following qualities would be advantageous:

  • Embedded Linux experience
  • Linux kernel module development experience working with hardware at the PCB level
  • Efficient self-motivator with a proven ability to prioritize multiple streams of work and meet deadlines

 

What will your typical day look like?

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, this position is responsible for providing software and software documentation for systems of varying size and complexity. Specifically, the Software Developer will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Development software in a CMMI ML2 environment as a member of the software team
  • Test, debug and improve code
  • Analyze new requirements
  • Investigate new technologies, research, design and write new software programs
  • Write technical documentation
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team, assisting and advising on technical matters as required.
  • Attend daily stand-up meetings with the software team
  • Use internal systems to manage your work assignments and time spent on tasks
  • Work at times individually or collaboratively with others on the team on software projects
  • Enjoy the free coffee
