QA Technician

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- Conducts accurate and timely testing of raw materials, packaging, in-process, and finished products using in-house and/or AOAC approved methods. completing all tests, properly interpreting results and releasing items in a timely manner.
- Identify area of concern (low salt, high salt, poor colour, high micro, improper mixing, etc.), issue QN’s and RCCA’s as required
- Provide troubleshooting support to the production departments by investigating issues that adversely affect food safety/quality or manufacturing efficiency and recommending potential solutions.
- Communicates effectively with internal customers, other McCormick divisions, vendors and external customers when required
- Retrieve samples from warehouse as required and conduct inspections for defective product.
- Conduct monthly GMP audits, allergen swabbing as required.
- General housekeeping of lab.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Follows all GLP and GMP requirements.
- Performs daily line audits as required.
- Participates in JTE as required.
Education: University degree in relevant field required.
Experience:
• 2 to 5 years in food industry.
Qualifications:
- Familiar with Quality Control systems, GLP, HACCP and GMP’s
- Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle heavy workloads with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work overtime and on-call support as required and the ability to be flexible with shift and workday assignments to support business need requirements.
